How to Activate Windows XP Professional

Using the Internet or Modem Connection

• 1). Click the "Windows Activation" notification on the system tray next to the clock to launch the activation wizard. If you do not see the notification, click the Windows "Start" button, select "All Programs," and select "Accessories."
  
  
• 2). Select "System Tools," and click "Activate Windows" to launch the activation wizard. Click "Yes, let's activate Windows over the Internet now."
  
  
• 3). Click "Read the Windows Product Activation Privacy Statement." Read the "Read the Windows Product Activation Privacy Statement" and click "Back." Click "Next."
  
  
• 4). Click "Yes, I want to register and activate Windows at the same time," if you want to register and activate Windows XP Professional. Click "No, I don't want to register now; let's just activate Windows" if you only want to activate Windows XP Professional. Click "Read the Windows Registration Privacy Statement." After reading the Registration Privacy Statement, click "Back" to return to the previous screen. Click "Next." Type your contact information in the registration form. When prompted, type your Windows XP Professional product key and click "Next." The wizard establishes a connection and activates your copy of Windows.
  
  
• 5). Click "OK" when activation is completed and you will receive the following message:
  You have successfully activated your copy of Windows.
  
  

Using the Phone

• 3). Click "Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows now" and click "Read the Windows Product Activation Privacy Statement." Read the Privacy Statement and click "Back" to return to the previous screen. Click "Next." Follow the guided prompts "Activate Windows by phone" wizard and click "Next."
  
  
• 4). Click "OK" when activation is completed and you receive the following message:
  You have successfully activated your copy of Windows.
