The second largest of the Highland Lakes is known as Lake Buchanan and is located in the Hill Country of central Texas. The Buchanan Dam is built on this lake and is approximately two miles long. The lake is popular with tourists and visitors that come to swim, boat, fish and camp. A few RV parks can be found around the lake for those traveling with a travel trailer or in a motor home. - Texas Hills RV Haven is family owned and operated, and was voted the "Best Lake Buchanan RV Park 2009". The campground consists of 15 level sites with full hookups (electric, water and sewer). Electric hookups include 20-, 30- and 50-amp service. Non-smoking cabins are available and sleep up to five people. Each cabin is equipped with a kitchenette, air conditioning and a full bathroom. A private boat ramp is available to all guests. Pets are welcome, but not allowed in the cabins and must be on a leash at all times. Area activities include rock climbing, boating, fishing, golf and caving.

Activities such as boating, swimming, fishing and canoeing are all available at this resort. Big Chief RV Resort has quite a few wildlife visitors such as deer, fox, armadillos, ducks and eagles. The club house has a full kitchen and is perfect for weddings, corporate meetings or parties. The guest house is smaller and features satellite TV and a card playing table. Waterfront sites are available with daily, weekly and monthly rates. All cabins are fully furnished with satellite TV and some are on the water.

Amenities include a recreation room with satellite TV, a laundry facility, bathrooms, showers, picnic area and spacious sites.
