3 Vital Better Sleep Tips
Sleep is vital to our health and well-being.
But few people really know HOW to sleep, or how to sleep correctly.
Here are what I consider the 3 most important better sleep tips.
Sleep tip 1: Soak in the morning sunlight.
Most people don't know this, but bright light has a profound affect on resetting the body clock, but only in the morning.
As the day goes on, bright light has less and less affect on resetting your inner clock.
So step outside or grab a light box as part of your morning routine so you can sleep soundly the following night.
Sleep tip 2: Don't spike your blood sugar.
Here's another better sleep tip few people know about.
But spiking blood sugar will increase stress hormone levels, making it difficult to fall asleep at night.
If you eat "low GI" foods, your stress hormones will remain steady, improving your sleep quality at night.
Sleep tip 3: Cool the lights at night.
One critical mistake people make is keeping bright lights on in the house after sundown.
While light in the morning resets the body clock (a good thing), light after sundown *advances* the body clock, meaning you'll spend a few hours tossing and turning before your body decides to go to bed.
In fact, those "racing thoughts" you have at night might not be due to stress, but due to the fact that you were exposed to bright lights after sundown, making your body think that it's not time for bed yet.
You may or may not have heard of these sleep tips before.
Most people don't know about them, but they are vital for blissful, rejuvenating sleep.
