Treatment of Hemorrhoids - 4 Procedures That Can Stop Painful and Bleeding Piles

103 24
Hemorrhoids are often termed an idiopathic condition because their true cause is not always clear.
Consequently some medications, herbal supplements or lifestyle changes may work for one person but not another.
In the case where a person has tried all possible remedies and medication without success, it may be time to get some kind of surgical procedure to address the problem.
This article will touch on 4 such procedures that can help and are another option for treatment of hemorrhoids.
Rubber band ligation - This is a simple procedure that should take 45 minutes to an hour.
It can take place in a doctors or proctologist's surgery.
A band is attached to the base of the piles.
This cuts off circulation to the piles which will drop off after a couple of weeks.
Sclerotherapy - This involves injecting a solution, known as a sclerosant into the blood vessels that are responsible for the hemorrhoids.
Swollen blood vessels cause the skin or tissue above to get swollen which can lead to pain, itching or bleeding.
Injecting the sclerosant into the individual blood vessels can cause the swelling to go down and thus potentially reduce the chances of pain and bleeding from occurring.
Infrared Coagulation - This is another fairly simple procedure that can take place in a proctologists surgery.
A probe that emits infra red light is passed over the blood vessels that are causing the hemorrhoids.
This 'coagulates' the vessels which in turn causes the hemorrhoids to shrink.
This should stop any pain felt and eliminate chances of bleeding occurring.
Hemorrhoidectomy - This is often the last resort for many people, when all other methods have failed or the piles are in a very advanced stage.
It is a surgical procedure that will require a general anesthetic in most cases.
The hemorrhoids will be excised using a scalpel or a cutting tool.
A wound will result that may be stitched up or covered with bandage to allow natural healing of the skin.
