Planning Your Online Copy

103 45
It doesn't matter if you have an online business or a traditional offline business the simple fact is that having website with quality content is a must in the current crowded market.
You need to create and present plenty of information in a way that will not only enable consumers to learn, but provide them with some enjoyment and entertainment as well.
The second part of that sentence is extremely important, because enjoyment and entertainment keep people fixed to a website and keep them coming back for more.
For that reason, you'll want to plan your website content so that it attracts your potential visitors' attention and keep it.
For example, you should plan your copy so that it will greet your visitors when they land on your website, you have to hook them at first glance or you will lose them.
Writing for the internet is completely different than writing for newspapers and magazines.
It consists of writing for people who don't necessarily read word for word.
You must keep in mind that the target audiences will most likely skim through the words and look for something they will find interesting.
When planning your copy you must be of that mindset, so that you can write in a way that attracts your visitor's attention throughout the copy.
When you are in the planning stages you must also take into consideration that you're trying to reach a certain segment of your target audience.
This member of the target audience will be much more focused compared to any other person browsing your website just out of curiosity.
They will be expecting something in particular and have specific questions in mind that you need to provide the answers to within your copy.
Another thing that you must consider when planning your copy is that you must practice targeting.
This means that you have to phrase your statements so that visitors of a particular demographic group, with specific needs can have these needs met through the products and services that you offer.
You must have this target audience in mind at all times.
When you understand what your target market needs, you'll know how to phrase your statements effectively.
You see, when you know and understand your target market, you can easily step into their shoes and construct your copy to reach them.
Getting to know your target audience includes visiting related online forums, joining related mailing lists and social network groups in order to observe what your target audience wants, how much money they are willing to spend for particular products or services, and what manner of language they speak.
Manner of language is not just about what country they are from or what dialect they speak, it is about attitude as well.
For instance; you would not speak to an avid golfer in the same way that you would speak to a piano player or a hardcore gamer.
Knowing how to speak to your target audience will make the job of creating a profile of your market group much easier.
Once you have this profile, you are able to compose copy that is specific to the needs and wants of that market.
If you plan your copy correctly it will make it easier to create great content that will not only attract visitors, it will keep them coming back for more!
