Prevention Tips to Keep Skunks Away
Get rid of all of a skunks preferred hiding places.
Skunks love things like wood piles and rock piles.
They will attempt to hide in any place that has small openings.
Another classic hiding place for a skunk is under the porch.
Skunks love this spot! If you have been thinking that they may be under there, you are probably right.
Call an exterminator to remove the skunk or skunks and immediately seal all openings, no matter how small.
Skunks can fit into a surprisingly small opening.
Remove all food sources.
This includes dog food bowls, scraps and smells.
If you absolutely must feed your dog outside, remove the bowl immediately afterward and any stray dog food.
Do the same thing for a cat.
Secure your trash.
Make sure a skunk can not knock it over and get into it.
I recommend getting rid of compost until your skunk problem is a thing of the past.

Some other possible hiding places to check your property for are open sheds and tree stumps that provide a safe spot for a skunk.
