Double Island Resort
Double Island, Queensland
Double Island was originally a private island for hire, providing beaches of white sand, the warm tropical waters of far north Queensland and, most importantly, privacy. It’s a haven for A-listers, with names like Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Aniston, Val Kilmer and Marlon Brando making the most of the exclusive island. Recently, Double Island Resort has opened its doors to couples and families, allowing those of us with a more modest bank account a chance to experience our own (almost) private island.
Palazzo Versace
Main Beach, Gold Coast, Queensland
With its grand entrance and impeccable standard of excellence, the Palazzo Versace has a long history of attracting some of the biggest names in music. From The Rolling Stones and U2 to Pink and Snoop Dogg, who famously enjoyed some “greens” in their Imperial Suite. The hotel is also used in the German and UK reality TV shows “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” to house the hosts, families and stars who are voted off; a much nicer alternative to the jungle featured in the series.
QT
Surfer’s Paradise, Gold Coast, Queensland
Infamous pop bad boy Justin Bieber caused a stir when he stayed at the QT in Surfer’s Paradise by spray painting cartoons on one of the external walls. Though the hotel were pleased with the outcome (unlike the city council), there was no indication of whether the Beibs was asked to decorate the building, or whether he was simply playing into his bad boy image.
