101 4
One of the most annoying pests known to man is a bed bug. Physically these bugs are flattened, brown, and oval shaped with no hind wings. So basically they do not fly but rather crawl into bed sides. They are social insects and exhibit some form of communication about their nesting locations, feeding and reproduction. Their infestation grows rapidly once established.

One of the clearest manifestations of bed bug infestations are bite marks on the human skin. Effects of these bites range from skin rashes to allergic reactions. Blood of course oozes out of the bite wounds and blood stains on beddings are also another sure way to diagnose a bug infestation. Also tiny white eggshells are another sign of them.

In the USA bug infestation was common during the World War 2 when they used chemicals now thought to contain harmful compounds as bed bug pesticide. However since the chemical was banned, the best approach to control these annoying bugs, is integrated pest management which is not only cheap but also environmental friendly. Practices suggested by integrated pest management include checking your luggage for signs of bugs after a journey, reducing clutter where bugs may hide. Inspect second hand furniture for signs of bug infestation since you have no idea of where they were before you bought them.

Where necessary bed bug pesticides are available in drug stores and should be used according to label directions. However non chemical treatments are preferred to chemicals. You should wash beddings and clothing to kill bedbugs and dry them under high temperature. If these methods fail to eliminate the bugs, consult a pest management professional to inspect you residence.

Hotel rooms are the most common places to find these bugs since guests come from different back grounds and room occupants change almost on a daily basis. Though bed bugs are not known to transmit any human diseases and could deprive you of sleep with their bites. This is undesirable for hotels because naturally no guests want to pay for a room only to find them in his/her bed. Simple things like these could rod a hotel of its valuable clients since it also reflects on bad hygienic practices on the part of the hotel management.

Bugs are now developing pesticide resistance. This started with resistance to previously developed pesticides and has now spread to other bed bug pesticides and this makes integrated pest management the best option for bedbug control.
