• US commercial transport policy is established by the US Department of Transportation (DOS). The DOS works closely with individual state and local transport offices to determine local policy regarding urban mass railroads, aviation and construction of highways.

• The Federal Highway Administration, Federal aviation Administration and the Federal Railroad administration are among other federal agencies that govern US transport law.
  
  

Mission

• The continuing mission of all of the federal agencies governing US transport law is to ensure that all of the commercial transport systems of the United States are as safe, economic, convenient, efficient and as technologically advanced as possible.
