Not All Carbs Are the Same
Whole wheat is a major weight loss no-no.
But does that mean that you have to go on a low-carb diet like Atkins in order to lose weight? No, it's not that drastic, believe me.
There are plenty of healthy carbohydrates and grains other than whole wheat that you can eat and still lose the weight.
One of the foods that people first give up on a diet is rice because of all the negative things that rice can attribute to.
Well, white rice for sure is a no-no but there are plenty of different types of rice that you are still able to eat and lose weight.
Brown Rice definitely goes to the top of the "yes" list of a good carbohydrate grain that you can include in your weight loss diet.
Why is brown rice different than white?Well, although both types of rice have varying amounts of calories, carbohydrates, and protein, the main difference between the two forms of rice how it's processed.
When brown rice is produced, only the outer layer of the grain is removed as opposed to several layers beyond that (bran and germ layers) are removed in white rice.
These added layers that are removed is what leaves that starchy element on white rice.
When you remove those two extra layers, you are actually taking out the much needed vitamins, fiber, and minerals too.
These nutrients are an essential part of any diet and especially any weight loss diet.
Do don't skimp on the good carbs for fear of stalling your weight loss results.
Go ahead and have some rice...
brown please.
