How to Disable Windows Updates in XP, Vista, and 7
- 1). Click the "Start" button and click "Run" to launch the command box.
- 2). Type "sysdm.cpl" (without quotes) and press "Enter." A new dialog box launches.
- 3). Click the "Automatic Updates" tab and then click the "Turn off Automatic Updates" option. Click "OK" to save your changes.

- 2). Click "Windows Update" in the left pane to launch the Windows Update dialog box. Alternatively, launch the Windows Update dialog box by clicking the "Start" menu, selecting "All Programs," and then clicking "Windows Update."
- 3). Click the "Change Settings" option and select the "Never check for updates (not recommended)" radio button. Click "OK." If prompted, enter your administrator password to confirm.
