How to Install a GE Double Oven

104 7
    • 1). Prepare the double oven opening. If the cabinet doesn't have a solid bottom, you will need to install braces that are capable of holding 375 pounds, so use 2-by-4 lumber and cut the length to fit the cabinet. Refer to the installation instructions for cutout sizes and minimum clearances.

    • 2). Remove the oven doors. This is not necessary but it will make installation easier. To do this, push both hinge locks down toward the door frame to the unlocked position. Place your hands on both sides of the door, and begin to close it. When you get to within an inch of the closed position, lift the door out.

    • 3). Make the electrical connections. Use an individual properly grounded branch circuit protected by a circuit breaker or fuse. Switch the main power off, and connect the flexible conduit to the junction box. The green or bare wire goes to the junction box itself. The white wire in the conduit goes to the white or gray wire in the box; red to red and black to black. Your codes may require the wires to be connected by a licensed electrician. There are also exceptions for aluminum conductors, so check your local building and electrical codes.

    • 4). Slide the GE double oven into the opening. Mount the oven using mounting screws through the mounting holes on the front at the sides of the oven cavity.

    • 5). Install the trim using the included screws, and replace the oven door.
