How to Submit an Auto Warranty Claim

    • 1). Take your vehicle to a licensed repair facility. Most car dealerships have a licensed facility along with a number of private mechanics who are licensed.

    • 2). Provide a copy of the auto warranty to the facility and ask for a diagnoses. This will determine if the damage done to your vehicle is covered by your warranty or not. If the damage is covered, the Service Manager at the facility will begin the paperwork to file your claim.

    • 3). Contact your auto warranty company. The information to contact them should be in your policy. When you talk to your company, confirm the information in your policy, including any deductibles you might have or if you will need to pay out of pocket and be reimbursed.

    • 4). Pick up your repaired vehicle. At this point, you will need to either pay the deductible or pay the entire fee. Make sure to get a copy of the repair bill and find out exactly what repairs were done. If you will be reimbursed, get exact copies of invoices, including part numbers.

    • 5). If you paid the entire fee and will be reimbursed by the auto warranty, file the proper paperwork, including the repair bill, to the company so that they may issue you a check. Generally, this paperwork needs to be filed within 180 days of the authorization date-usually the date repairs begin-in order to receive your reimbursement.
