104 16
    • 1). Drive to the house you are looking for and write down any house numbers that are on either side of the home. Also, note any house numbers that are on the other side of the street or road. If it is a rural area, check to see if names are on any of the mail boxes. This will help in identifying the exact location.

    • 2). Visit the local United States Post Office that serves that area. Ask for help to determine the correct mailing address for the house.

    • 3). Check with your local zoning office or the department that assigns the 911 numbers. They can help you pinpoint the correct number.

    • 4). Search online to see if your area has a geographic information system (GIS) mapping website. You can locate the house, the owner's name and the information on surrounding properties.

    • 5). Visit your local library. Check to see if they have a city directory in the reference section. In most cities every street and street number, along with other information, is listed in the directories that are published by the Polk Company.
