Da y 2 - House and Gardens

106 13
The Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House are quickly recognisable icons of Australia. Today we visit the Opera House, go through the Royal Botanic Gardens and other parts of The Domain before turning west into the heart of the city.

The Opera House

  • What's on
Opera, ballet, plays, musicals. See what's on at the Opera House.
  • Restaurants and bars
Where to eat when at the Opera House. Along the concourse and in the House itself.

The gardens

  • An oasis of green in the heart of the city
From the Opera House walk a short distance east to enter the Royal Botanic Gardens. You can take as long or as short a time as you wish. There's a restaurant and kiosk within the gardens and if you proceed to The Domain you may want to visit the Art Gallery of New South Wales along Art Gallery Rd. There's a restaurant within the gallery as well as across the road at Pavilion in the Park.

What they say

  • Look, the Sydney Opera House!
"I'm not an Aussie, and haven't visited many of the cities, but Sydney harbour is breath-taking for a visitor. I remember the first time I saw the Opera House, I wanted to stop people going to work and say 'Look! The Sydney Opera House!', but thankfully I restrained myself."

Aussiespeak

  • Don't let language hinder romance
Especially for those coming to Sydney or anywhere else in Australia from other parts of the world, knowing a bit of Australian will certainly be helpful. Don't let language become a barrier to great friendships.
