The bed is the main furniture that bed bugs often infest.
And as it is where you rest and usually stay for almost half of the day, you are exposed more to them in there than anywhere else.
And so, it is important for you to know how to isolate your bed from the said pests.
To isolate the bed from the said pests generally means to get rid of them.
Though that won't take all of your problems about them, it can help you get a good night sleep and a bite-free morning.
In a way, it is also another step to keeping the entirety of your house from bed bugs infestation.
Before you get started with the steps though, you need to make sure first that you have everything that you need.
You also have to make sure that what you have is really what is needed for the process.
All those tools and materials needed can greatly affect the effectiveness of the process to get the pests off your bed so it is vital that you choose all the tools and materials correctly.
And for the actual steps to get rid of bed bugs off your bed, here they are.
  • Clean the bed.
    Get the bedding off your bed.
    That includes the sheets, comforters, blankets, mattress covers and pillow cases.
    Wash them then at a high temperature of at least 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
    Even when drying them, it should be in a high temperature.
    You can use either a dryer and set in the highest setting possible or you can dry it in the sunlight to kill the said pests in all stages.
  • Clean the bed's frame and headboard.
    Metal or wooden, the bed's frame can also be infested by the pests and the headboard is often an infested part of the bed.
    Every corner of them must be thoroughly cleaned.
    The adjoining parts and the gaps and cracks in them must also be sealed or covered as the said bugs can hide in them.
  • Vacuum the mattress.
    With this step, you will need to use a vacuum with a bag.
    You can lean the mattress on the wall for an easier vacuuming and so you can get the machine over its edges.
    Right after, get the bag from the machine and seal it carefully before disposing it.
    That is to surely contain the pests and to prevent them from coming back.
  • Clean the area surrounding the bed.
    Doing so will kill bed bugs within the perimeter that can help prevent them from going again to your bed.
    There are several things that you must do considering that almost any item in a bedroom can be infested by the pest.
    Among those specific items that you should check and clean to really get rid of bed bugs are the flooring, closets, cabinets and wall hangings.
