Father of the Bride Speech - Important Tips

103 1
When it comes to father of the bride speeches, the father is really a best supporting actor of sorts.
Even if the bride and groom take most of the spotlight and contribute to overall wedding costs, the father often acts as the host.
Traditionally, it's the father's job to give the bride away, welcome guests and give a speech that the couple and their guests can remember for years to come.
While there can be concerns about how to dress (formal or not), the costs (how much and who pays?) and other details to attend to, the father is generally more concerned with the father of the bride speech that is expected and anticipated.
This particular speech may very well be the most pressing concern of the father.
And that's no surprise.
Most people rarely need to speak in public, have not had practice and may not even want to do so.
A father of the bride who presents in front of groups at work or in front of club members will find that speaking about his daughter on her wedding day is a different situation.
He may be nervous and he may be unprepared.
It's important to note that speeches can set the wedding's (and the wedding guests') tone.
A light and funny speech will encourage guests to feel light and good, and we all want our guests to feel good and have a fun time at the reception.
The father of the bride can speak about a memory of his daughter and should mention her achievements and how proud he is of her today.
Of course, it's important to include the groom and his family in the speech and to say something positive.
The father might also think to mention the bride's mother and the mother's positive influence on the daughter.
Most important of all is to prepare the speech in advance so there's no stress over creating it at the last minute and to practice it either by yourself or with another person you trust to make sure you can present the speech with grace and confidence.
