Jobs for Which You Need a Sponsor

Professional Athletes

• Professional athletes that require full-time training do not have the time to hold a full-time job outside of training. Therefore, they require sponsors to reach their full potential. A sponsor for a professional athlete can be a shoe or clothing company, a nutritional product, or another institution that is related to the athlete's sport. For example, a professional runner may be sponsored by running shoe companies. She may be given shoes, gear, clothing and money based on her abilities so that she can continue training without the stress of working outside of running to make money. In turn, the athlete may be required to wear the company logo.
  
  

Foreign Professors

• Professors are often asked to teach for a certain amount of time or permanently in a foreign country. They have to obtain a work visa to be employed in another country. To obtain the visa or work towards permanent residency, they are required to obtain employment sponsorship. They must have previous experience and be highly qualified for the position to be considered for sponsorship.
  
  

Multinational Managers

• Managers from other countries, who are called in to work in another country other than their own, require employment sponsorship. They do not require labor certification or any educational requirements. However they must have worked with a company that is connected to the country to which they will be transferring to. For example, a manager that wishes to enter the U.S. workforce must have worked with a U.S. company for at least a year. They must also have at least three years of experience in managing within the field.
  
  

Highly Skilled Foreign Employees

• Employees that have exceptional skills in their areas of employment can be considered for employment sponsorship. There are no set guidelines for showing that they are highly skilled. However, examples of proof are international recognition, an educational degree in the area in which they wish to work, or being extremely accomplished in their field of employment. This area of sponsorship is restricted to a very small percentage of people.
