What is Parris Island Like

What exactly is Parris like for a new recruit? You probably are worried that it is going to be like visiting hell for 13 weeks and that you will fail to succeed in becoming a full-fledged Marine.
It will be tough, but just imagine how proud you will be of yourself once you are in the Marines.
I will paint you a mental picture of what you can expect to encounter at Parris Island.
The entry into Parris Island is not terribly exciting, especially if you were expecting lots of fanfare.
Just inside the main gate, you will notice on the side of the paved entry into the island, a large brown sign that will welcome you to Parris Island.
The grounds are very clean, not a piece of trash will be seen on the perfectly cut grass.
There also are water filled ditches on either side of the roadway.
This main entry is the only way onto and off of the training island.
Once at the training camp, you will be confronted with 13 weeks of intensive instruction that will turn you into a better person for life.
Training for the Marines is world class and you will learn to appreciate the hardships that you will have to deal with while being turned into a Marine.
You will have minimal contact from your family and friends.
You will only be allowed to receive letters from them.
Nevertheless, you will develop strong friendships for life while at boot camp at Parris Island.
