History of the Chateau Bourbon Hotel

    • This hotel was built in 1849 and began life as the D.H. Holmes Department Store. The store remained in operation for 140 years and had a reputation of being an outstanding national retail establishment. It was built in the neoclassical tradition that is indicative of much of New Orleans. It opened as a 251-room luxury hotel in 1995 and is currently owned by Wyndham Hotels and Resorts.

    Accommodations

    • Chateau Bourbon claims the most spacious guest rooms available in the French Quarter. Rooms have 12-foot-high ceilings and balconies that overlook Bourbon Street or landscaped courtyards. All rooms have 32-inch flat-screen televisions with premium channels and free wireless Internet. The bathrooms have amenities such as a phone, scale, bathrobes, and bath products from Gilchrest & Soames. As an added bonus, each room has a personal safe large enough to accommodate a laptop computer. Rooms range from deluxe king and double queen rooms to two bedroom suites to suit the needs of their guests.

    Dining

    • This hotel offers two restaurants and one bar. Tempo serves breakfast daily from 6:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Southern comfort food is on the menu as well as traditional New Orleans breakfast fare. The Red Fish Grill is open for lunch from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and dinner from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. The restaurant serves traditional favorites such as seafood gumbo, pecan-crusted catfish, alligator sausage and its signature hickory grilled red fish. The Clock Bar has been a meeting place for generations of New Orleans inhabitants. It offers a full drink menu featuring festive cocktails as well as appetizers and lighter food options. A full room service menu is also offered by the hotel.
