Learning About My Friend"s Under Counter Water Filter

I had never considered getting a water filter, but after a good friend of mine purchased a under counter water filter for her family, I thought I would give them a second glance.
Now, I am very trusting person, and when I heard a lot of the reports about the quality of today's tap water, I brushed them of as nonsense.
Why, living in a first world country like we do, should I ever be afraid of the water we drink? As it turns out, plenty.
My friend had begun looking into under counter water filters for her and her family once she read some of the studies the Washington post has released about lead levels in our water.
Not only did they find massively high levels of lead concentrations in water supplies in places like New York City and Philadelphia, but they found that the data surrounding the city wide lead levels had been keep in the dark for years! Think of how much lead was in the water all that time, and no one stepped forward to take care of it! It upsets me to think about things like high lead in water, which is why I guess I ignored it for so long.
But the World Health Organization released a statement, talking about how the presence of lead has risen to the number of health threat of children in American today! Apparently if it builds up in the system, it can stunt all manner of systems in the body, and even damage the brain, especially when coming into contact with the very young.
Well, right then I knew that I would be seeing about this under counter water filter for myself.
I had thought that installing one of these things would be nigh impossible, but it turns out that setting up under counter water filters is a piece of cake.
There was more than enough room for it, and it was simply a matter of removing a piece of pipe and attaching it to its tube.
I'm no plumber, but even I was able to set it up.
And I could not believe what I read about filter systems like this...
not only does it deal with lead, but apparently the type of carbon based, multi stage filter I picked up is the leading model at taking out other nasty things like chemicals run off from farms and factories, and the traces of different types of pharmaceutical drugs that can get into water.
Boy, was I in luck! In a way, I had been ignoring the information about what an under counter water filter could do for me because I was scared...
I was scared to think of what was happening to my family, what could be happening to my family.
I didn't know how worried I was until I finally let myself in on the truth.
Tap water just isn't safe these days, and it's so easy and so simple to manage, I'm embarrassed I left is as long as I did.
Well you can bet I'm glad my friend bought that under counter water filter...
it really opened my eyes!
