How to Sign Up to Take the SAT II

104 22
  • 1). Find out whether the colleges you're applying to require or recommend the SAT II (Scholastic Aptitude Test II). Begin the process early, since certain tests are offered on fewer dates than others.

  • 2). Get a registration bulletin from your school's guidance counselor. If he or she can't help you, then visit the College Board (collegeboard.com) for information on how to register online or by phone.

  • 3). Keep in mind that fees vary from test to test, but most cost $6 plus a $13 registration fee. There are additional fees for other services, including phone registration ($10).

  • 4). Choose the test or tests you want to take. Subjects include writing, literature, American history, world history, math (2 levels), biology, chemistry, physics and various foreign languages.

  • 5). Choose a test date. Most subject tests are given six times per academic year: the first is in October; the last one is in June.

  • 6). Find the test center nearest you by looking through your registration bulletin.

  • 7). Choose four colleges you'd like the official score reports sent to.

  • 8). Send in your registration form along with a check for the appropriate amount. Or, if registering online or by phone, have your credit card ready. You can register by phone only if you've taken the SAT (I or II) before.

  • 9). Contact the College Board if you're still waiting for confirmation of your registration six weeks after you signed up.
