Ideas for Teachers Open House
- Place a typical assignment on each student's desk. Have parents work through the assignment at the beginning of open house.
- Produce a PowerPoint presentation to convey your expectations, procedures and any other valid information.
- Put together a room scavenger hunt for students and parents to get more familiar with the setup of your room. This will set the tone for a fun, yet informative open house.
- Provide a time for parents to mix and mingle. Consider providing a worksheet to guide the activity.
- If your open house occurs after school has already begun, consider getting your students involved. Perhaps choose a couple to present portions of your PowerPoint or have them perform a skit.
- Now's the time to show off work your students have put together. Choose the most interesting work you can think of to display on the wall. Avoid putting traditional back to school activities on the wall, instead opting for something that shows the parents what their kid is learning.
