How to Remove the Spoiler From a Hyundai Coupe
- 1). Open your trunk and remove the trunk liner from the top portion of the trunk lid. Examine the spoiler's mounting assembly to make sure you have the correct tools to remove it. The exact assembly will depend on what type of Hyundai vehicle you have and whether the spoiler is a factory-installed spoiler or an aftermarket-installed spoiler.
- 2). Remove the spoiler mounting bolts. Wing spoilers usually have four bolts (two on each side) and standard spoilers usually have five (one in the middle).
- 3). Close the trunk and apply a heat gun or hair dryer around the base of the spoiler where it meets the trunk lid. Since the spoiler is attached with strong adhesive and bolts, you need to heat the adhesive so you can remove the spoiler.
- 4). Take the spoiler off and set it aside. If you have used the heat gun or dryer properly, it will come off fairly easily.
- 5). Clean the mounting area thoroughly to remove the adhesive residue. Normal automotive soap will not work; instead, use a solvent such as Goo Gone.
- 6). Closely examine the size of the holes in your trunk. Purchase the right size plugs to install in the holes until you can have the holes filled by a professional. The plugs will keep it from raining into your trunk.
