Artist Adventures

We live in a world of adrenaline junkies and adventure seekers.
Most of them are youngsters obviously with plenty of money and a strong desire to have fun.
They also see it as their domain - you must be young to do what they do! Not so.
Have you looked recently at your leisure artist peers and where they are all going on their holidays? Art adventures no longer mean only trying something different with your painting techniques or interpretation.
These intrepid artists are taking on the world and visiting a host of very adventurous painting locations.
Now I don't consider Lake Como, which is simply a fantastic painting holiday location, an adventure just because you travelled 16 hours in a plane to get there.
What I call an artist adventure is:
  • Painting while sailing on a classic schooner amongst whales and icebergs.
  • Sketching amongst the Big 5 on a wild animal conservancy.
  • Climbing 5000 feet up the mountains just to paint the view.
  • Painting hippos from a beach hideaway.
  • Hiking in spectacular wilderness areas because the painting will be great.
  • Listening to battlefield stories while you paint up the atmosphere.
  • Zip line along a gorge to see what it looks like from the middle
  • Covering the miles on horseback, in bear country, for your painting.
  • Breakfast in the bush while painting landscapes that haven't changed in eons
It might not be all helter skelter adrenaline rushing stuff but my goodness these holidays certainly aren't for the faint hearted and are definitely for those who are looking for something a little different to paint.
