How to Market Your Art With an Art Blog
As for artist, you can use your blog to promote your work, upcoming shows, and your successes as an artist.
Many artists say that they would love to have a website but don't have the money, well, using a blog can serve as your main website until you get a website of your liking.
The main point is to use the blog to generate buzz about your work and build you or your brand.
If you do have a website already but it was created and is managed by a web designer where you have to contact them and wait two to three weeks on requested changes that can be a hassle.
With a blog you can post something immediately without having to call anyone and wait for them to make changes.
You can use the blog to drive traffic to a main site.
That's my main point.
Here are a few important points that you can use to promote your artwork via a blog or as I like to call it, Art Blog.
Point 1 - You can post images of the work you created or work you are selling.
People love to view your work and love to see works in progress.
You've heard the saying pictures say a thousand words; and they do.
A lot of people think of blogs as just for reading and not really about pictures but if you have pictures on your blog that compliment a great story you will have a nice interesting blog which will keep readers interested in you and your work.
Using PayPal and eBay, you can easily setup shopping carts or pay buttons on your blog to allow customers to purchase paintings, sculptures, jewelry, or what you have.
Point 2 - Another unique thing you can do is to post videos of your work, or you creating your work, on your blog.
Videos are great tools for potential customers to see the real you.
You can also post videos of your art shows and exhibitions, especially if people are buying your work at these exhibitions.
I believe the more entertaining your videos are the better.
With YouTube and other video platforms it is very easy to post videos onto websites and blogs.
All you have to do is cut and paste codes from YouTube and embed them into your blog.
Point 3 - Blogs are easy to do and easy to post information on the web and the most important thing you may want to do to help promote yourself using your blog is to write about your life as an artist.
You can talk about your success and your failures.
The more transparent you are the better.
Blogs started-off as way for people to submit information quick and easy on the web without having to go through so much red tape.
Today they can be used for almost anything but the main way for you as an artist to use an art blog is to share your life on the web.
With a traditional website created by a web designer you can't easily post new information about your life and your artwork.
You can start by sharing your life and information about you as an artist today.
Just sign up to or WordPress and began blogging about your work.
You may want to think of a unique yet memorable name for your blog, just remember that Blogspot or WordPress will be attached to the end of your web name.
For instance, if you name your blog The Bird Painter, your url will be TheBirdPainter.
Blogspot.
As for choosing a name I suggest you use your name or a creative name that relates to the type of work you do.
This will add to your brand in the long run.
