Airports Near California, Maryland

      Set between such towns as Breton Bay and Middle Earth, the city of California, Maryland, is located about two hours due south from Baltimore. California is set in St. Mary's County and is near the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. For those traveling to California, the Naval Air Station is not available for commercial flights, but there are other airport options stemming from the greater Washington, D.C. area. Additionally, there are small regional airports nearby for those who have the opportunity to travel by private or chartered plane.

    Reagan National Airport

    • The large airport that is closest to the community of California, Maryland, is Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Va. Reagan is about one-hour-and-a-half from California and offers daily flights to destinations around and outside of the United States (primarily to and from Canada). Domestic airlines at Reagan include American Airlines, AirTran, Continental Airlines, Delta, and United Airlines. International carriers include Air Canada.

    Baltimore Washington International Airport

    • The Baltimore Washington International Airport is located about two hours from California, Maryland, in Baltimore. BWI also offers daily flights within and around the United States and provides a range of international flights as well.     • Located in Chantilly, Virginia, just outside the D.C. area, Washington Dulles International Airport is the furthest from California, at around two-and-a-half hours by driving. As with the other large airports, Dulles offers a range of domestic and international flights each day. Domestic airlines include American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta, JetBlue, United Airlines, and Southwest. International carriers include Air France, British Airways, Air India, Ethiopian Airlines, Lufthansa, and South African Airways.

    St. Mary's and Webster Nolf

    • Also called Captain Walter Francis Drake Regional Airport, St. Mary's County Regional Airport is located in Hollywood, less than three miles from California. St. Mary's is owned by the county commissioner and, as such, does not offer typical commercial flights. But the airport does make itself available for propellor planes and for private chartered flights. Like St. Mary's County Regional Airport, Webster Nolf Airport is designed for small prop planes and private charters. Additionally, this airport is only half-an-hour south of the community of California.
