Classifications of Organic Foods

Organic is the commonly used word today but what is the exact meaning of this word; many may ask.
In this modern life of health awareness, many consumers want to associate with this word and so you find most items in the shop display this label.
It is no wonder the US government insists on regulating its use on food items.
In scientific terms; the word simply refers to any type of food which is not obtained by the application of pesticides and genetically modified organisms that are synthetic.
Such foods must be grown by natural fertilizers, and insect controlled system but not the conventional agricultural techniques.
Meats, milk and such like should only be obtained from organic livestock that have been bred in the natural way by eating natural grain and be grazed outdoors.
Organic foods are in many classifications, so that the one labeled 100% is given the USDA Organic seal to show that it is wholly organic.
Again if the item showed a label with a single word, Organic it actually shows that the item is not wholly organic, but may only be up to 95% even if it may bear the seal.
In order to be sure, check for labels and if one reads made with organic ingredients, it shows the item has only up to 75% ingredients that are organic so they are never given the seal.
If the label says â??contains organic ingredients then it shows the ingredients are less than 70% and no seal can be issued for such.
Even though at first the labels will be a bit confusing, they are important for people to know that there is a healthier way of living by using more natural foods.
Organic foods and the labels will show you that you are covered from destructive and dangerous chemicals like pesticides.
A large number of shops are now selling organic foods and they have displayed them on special counters so you are able to tell the manager at the stores that do not do this to make it a point.
