How to Keep a Block Garage Moisture Free
- 1). Rinse the walls with a garden hose to clean them. You may want to waterproof both the outside and inside of the garage walls. If so, both will require cleaning; otherwise, just rinse the exterior of the building. Scrub down the surface with a stiff-bristled, long-handled brush and rinse again to remove debris.
- 2). Repair any large cracks in the surface of the walls with mortar. Allow the mortar to cure before continuing. Follow the directions on the package for proper curing times.
- 3). Mix the masonry waterproofing as directed on the product. Some waterproofing mixes come in powder format, while others are premixed and ready to apply.
- 4). Wet down one wall with the hose. Stir the waterproofing with a mixing stick and brush it onto the wall surface. Work in sections to cover the wall fully, then move to the next wall. Wet each section prior to applying the waterproofing mix.
- 5). Allow the walls to dry for at least 8 hours. Repeat the process to add a second coat.
