- 1). Open the package containing your front license plate holder and examine its contents. You should have the plastic holder, two bolts, two plastic retainers and two washers.
- 2). Examine the the front of your Xterra directly underneath the grille. Look for two small dimples in the bumper cover. You'll mount the holder using these dimples.
- 3). Lightly operate the drill against each dimple. The plastic is very thin; it won't take much effort to make the mounting holes.
- 4). Insert the plastic retainers into the holes. Position the front plate holder over the bumper cover, and line up the retainers with the holes in the front plate holder.
- 5). Install the washers and bolts to secure the front plate holder. Use a standard socket wrench to tighten the bolts.
