    Spectator Thrills

    • Most of the casinos in Las Vegas offer exciting shows that are free for viewing. One of the more thrilling ones is Pirate Ship & Sirens outside Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, 3300 Las Vegas Boulevard South. The nightly performances begin at 7 p.m. and include an energetic pirate battle.

      Another thrilling spectacle is the Fremont Street Experience at 425 Fremont St., downtown Las Vegas. At the top of the hour from 8 p.m. to midnight, the street comes alive with a light and sound show featuring 12.5 million lights and 550,000 watts of sound.

      Other fun performances free for viewing are live circus acts starting at 11 a.m. daily at Circus Circus Hotel and Casino, 2880 Las Vegas Boulevard South; a volcano erupting smoke and fire at the top of the hour from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Mirage Hotel and Casino, 3400 Las Vegas Boulevard South; and an aquarium show at the Silverton Hotel and Casino, 3333 Blue Diamond Road, every day at 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

    Exciting Activities

    • If you are looking for some fun and exciting attractions, look up to the Stratosphere Tower at the Stratosphere Hotel Casino, 2000 Las Vegas Boulevard South. The Insanity Ride lifts and spins riders to three G's while providing incredible views of the Vegas strip some 900 feet below.

      If you like speed, the Sahara Hotel, 2535 Las Vegas Boulevard South, has an interactive Indy car racing ride. Or head to FastKart Speedway at Sports Center Las Vegas, 121 E. Sunset Road, and maneuver hairpin turns in a go-cart resembling a NASCAR race car.

      Other fun attractions are bungy jumping at A.J. Hackett Bungy, 810 Circus Circus Drive; indoor skydiving at Vegas Indoor Skydiving, 200 Convention Center Drive; and the shark reef exhibit and behind the scenes tour at Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino, 3950 Las Vegas Boulevard South.

    Museums and More

    • Las Vegas is home to several unique museums, including Madame Tussaud's wax museum, 3377 Las Vegas Boulevard South, where visitors can interact with celebrities re-created in wax. For an out-of-this-world experience, there is Star Trek, The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton, 3000 Paradise Road, where visitors find themselves in a Klingon space battle aboard the Enterprise.

      Fifteen minutes from the Vegas strip is Red Rock Canyon, a stunning vista of rock formations, small canyons once inhabited by Native American tribes and desert wildlife. You can go rock climbing and hiking, or bike or drive the 8-mile scenic loop.

      Other fun attractions to visit are the lion habitat exhibit at MGM Grand, 3799 Las Vegas Boulevard South; the 100 hands-on art and science exhibits at Lied Discovery Children's Museum, 833 Las Vegas Boulevard North; and the video arcade of the future at Gameworks at the Showcase Mall, 3785 Las Vegas Boulevard, where more than 300 interactive video games await.
