The dis functioning of your thyroid gland can actually be the cause of your insomnia not to mention other ailments that an under functioning thyroid can cause such as inability to lose weight, unexpected weight gain and susceptibility to the cold to name only a few.
One of the first things you need to do when you realize that you could be suffering from insomnia is to look at prevention.
A few common things you can do to help yourself are to cut caffeine out of your diet in the evening, not exercising too close to bed time but to do some exercise earlier in the afternoon or day, avoid watching too much television and of course to try and get to bed a bit earlier than usual.
