    Monkey Puzzle Tree

    • A popular specimen tree in temperate coastal regions, Araucaria araucana's native range is limited to the coast of Chile and Argentina. Pointed, scale-like leaves spiral around the tree's gangly limbs, giving the tree its loose, rounded appearance.

    Coffin Tree

    • Native only to the slopes of Mount Morrison in Taiwan, this large, graceful tree is a member of the cypress family. Branchlets droop from pendulous limbs, giving mature trees a weeping appearance.

    Giant Sequoia

    • A tree of formidable stature, Sequoiadendron giganteum grows wild only in California's Sierra Nevada Mountains. Notable in the landscape for the conical shape of its canopy and its spongy, reddish bark, giant sequoia is the largest tree in the world.

    Dawn Redwood

    • Once known only by fossil record, a live specimen of Metasequoia glyptostroboides was discovered in China in 1941. A deciduous conifer, dawn redwood needles turn reddish brown before dropping in autumn. This is one of the oldest tree species, reproducing itself for more than 100 million years.
