The Fingerprinting Kit Yesterday Today and Tomorrow

The actual concept that each person has a unique set of fingerprints was actually first thought of by the Chinese some 2,000 years ago. While they didn't realize that no two people on the planet had the same set of prints, they did see that each persons fingerprints were unique enough to be used for things like officiating documents such as tax records.

A Messy Process To Undergo

All along since its inception, the fingerprinting kit has had one big down side. That is that it left the persons fingers and or hands covered with ink stains. Sure in recent years more easier to remove ink has was developed but none the less it it continued to remain a messy process.

A New System Of Fingerprinting

So chemists set to work to come up with an alternative solution. What they finally arrived at is quit simple and it offered a very reasonable alternative to messy ink. It's a two part fingerprinting kit that involves a chemical reaction.

A Two Part Chemical Reaction

First the person presses his hand or fingers into an ink pad that contains a clear chemical. Next the hand or fingers are pressed onto a sheet of paper that is permeated with a chemical that reacts with the first chemical in the ink pad to form a dark set of prints.

Electronic Fingerprinting Today

From there, fingerprinting kit technology has moved to electronic methods of taking a persons fingerprints that involve no chemicals or ink at all. The process involves placing a persons hand or fingers on a glass table that covers an electronic device that transfers their prints onto a screen.

Fingerprint Technology and Biometrics

Biometrics is what is predicted to be the replacement of fingerprinting in the future. With biometrics technology a persons eyes or specific facial topography or features can be mapped out and converted to digital data that can in turn be used specifically identify an individual.
