The Hardangerfjord is located in southern Norway near the coastal city of Bergen. Both fall within the county of Hardaland. This beautiful area boasts spectacular views and offers a feast of outdoor activities. Everything from kayaking to glacier hiking. The Hardangerfjord covers an incredible 179 kilometers. This makes it the third longest fjord in the world and the second longest in Norway. It stretches from the Atlantic Ocean, south of Bergen, to the expansive mountain plateau of Hardangervidda.
It also reaches impressive depths of up to 800 meters.

Waterfalls:
The Hardangerfjord is home to Norway’s most famous waterfall, Voringsfossen. Nature walks will lead you to viewing areas above and below this 182 meter giant. With a direct drop of 145 meters it is truly a sight worth seeing. Another waterfall not to be missed is the Steindalsfossen. Although much smaller than the Voringsfossen, with a fall only 50 meters. It's exciting in a different way. Hikers can enjoy this waterfall like no other, by getting the chance to walk directly behind it. A rare opportunity.
Glaciers:
Folgeforma Glacier is a vast 203 square kilometers and the third largest in mainland Norway. Offering a variety of terrain, it's perfect for exploring in the summer months. Calmer areas suitable for most hikers can give way to steep inclines.
The braver visitors can take advantage of this and take part in some ice climbing. Tours and walks can be booked nearby and the area is easily accessible. In hotter weather why not make your way down from the ice into the fjord below. Taking full advantage of the mix of climates.
Kayaking:
Can there be any better way to experience the beautiful surroundings of the Hardangerfjord then from the heart of the fjord itself. Kayak rentals allow for an up close and personal view of the stunning scenery. Take your ride out onto the water and feel part of nature, as you glide along the clear expanse. This can be done from Eidfjord which is easily accessible from Bergen. Tours include a calmer experience through the area, or for thrill seekers some white water routes are also available.
The Hardanger Aqua Center:
Step away from the great outdoors momentarily to fully appreciate one of Norway’s unique industries. The Hardangerfjord stands alongside some of the largest fish farming regions in the world. The plant is open all year and offers a great opportunity to learn more about what goes on inside. Special underwater cameras offer visitors a real-time view of the salmon inside.
Fruit, Juice and Cider:
Another special attraction for those looking for something different, is the Hardanderfjord's popular fruit industry. Known as 'The Orchard of Norway', this area offers a range of fresh fruit, apple juice and cider. Visitors lucky enough to be in the area during May can witness the beautiful blossoming of the fruit trees. There is a huge variety on show. Everything from apples and pears, to cherries and strawberries. A visit to the nearby Juice and Cider factory in Ulvik is yet another way to enjoy this produce.

- Oslo (Approximately 330 Kilometers), Driving: (6 hours) E18 to Drammen / E134 to Skare / fv. 13 to Odda, Flying: Oslo – Bergen (50 minutes)
- Stavanger (Approximately 200 Kilometers), Driving: (3 hours 30 minutes) E39 to Arsvagen / Ferry ride to Mortavika / E39 to Tysvaer / E134 to Skare / fv. 13 to Odda. Flying: (40 minutes).
