    Average Salary

    • Approximately 42,820 clergy were employed in the United States in 2010. The mean annual wage was $48,290 per year. Salaries ranged from $24,210 to $77,390 per year, including the 10th through 90th percentiles. The 25th percentile earned $31,780 per year, and the 75th percentile earned $58,360 per year.

    Hourly Wages

    • Children’s pastors sometimes work part-time and earn hourly wages. Some also volunteer their services. The average hourly wage was $23.22 per hour. The 10th percentile earned less than $11.64 per hour, and the 90th percentile earned more than $37.21 per hour. The 25th percentile earned $15.28 per hour, and the 75th percentile earned $28.06 per hour.

    Industries

    • The highest levels of employment were in religious organizations, where the annual mean wage was $48,750 per year. In hospitals, the average salary was $47,090 per year, and in child day care services, the average salary was $59,670 per year. According to the bureau, the highest salaries came from federal government agencies, at $73,310 per year.
