How to Draw a Jumping Stallion
- 1). Study pictures of horses jumping. Pay attention to the hind and forelegs. Notice the muscles tensing.
- 2). Draw an oval at a forty-five degree angle tilting upwards towards the right-hand corner of the page. Draw two parallel lines at the top of this oval for the neck. Draw a smaller oval on top of the neck at a forty-five degree angle tilting downward toward the lower right-hand corner.
- 3). Draw a thin rectangle under the rear of the body extending back at a forty-five degree angle. Draw a circle on the end for the knee. Draw another smaller rectangle straight down. Draw a small circle on the end for the fetlock joint. Draw a small square on the end for the hoof. Repeat this step for the other hind leg but place this leg slightly behind the first.
- 4). Draw a small thin rectangle at the front of the body extending out at a forty-five degree angle. Draw a small circle on the end for the knee. Add a small rectangle extending back underneath the upper leg. Draw a small square on the end. Repeat this step for the opposite foreleg; placing this leg slightly behind the first.
- 5). Draw a mane on the back of the horse's neck. Draw an eye on the side. Draw ears on top towards the back of the head. Draw a nose and a flared nostril. Add a tail to the horse's rear end.
- 6). Blend in the hooves and the leg joints. Add lines depicting the muscles of the horse on the flank and the shoulder. Add detail and shading. Erase any unwanted lines.
