- 1). Open the Symantec website in a Web browser. Type "Norton Removal Tool" into the search box at the top-right corner of the screen and press the "Enter" key to search.
- 2). Click on the search result with the title "Download and run the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall your Norton Product." Click on "I have a Norton 2006/2007/2008/2009/2010/2011 product" to open the removal instructions for Norton AntiVirus 2006.
- 3). Click on the "Download" button to download the Norton Removal Tool. Save the downloaded file to your desktop.
- 4). Right-click on the downloaded removal tool, and then click "Run as Administrator" to start the removal process. Click to agree to the license agreement, and then click "Next." Type the characters into the security check exactly as displayed, which stops malware from running the tool without the user knowing. Click "Next" to continue, and then again to scan the computer and remove Norton AntiVirus 2006. Once the scan has completed, click "Next."
