    Comparison

    • In terms of durability, other light bulbs pale in comparison to LEDs. There are no filaments to break in LEDs. which greatly decreases the risk of LEDs becoming ineffective after being dropped or mishandled.

LEDs are much more cost-efficient than many other light bulbs. On average, operating a 100-watt incandescent light bulb 12 hours daily for a year can cost around $43. Running the XR-10, a type of LED bulb, for the exact same amount of time will only cost around $4.30 for the year. The high initial cost to purchase LEDs is mostly because of high production costs.

Because they use so little energy to produce light, wiring a home with LEDs is environmentally friendly. Unlike many other bulbs including fluorescents, LEDs do not contain any mercury, which also makes them safer for the environment.

    Choosing LEDs

    • LEDs are much more energy-efficient than most other types of light bulbs. EarthLED offers a 10-watt bulb, the XR-10, that performs on the same level as a 100-watt incandescent bulb. Unlike many other light bulbs, LEDs waste a negligible amount of their energy on heat production. They burn at much lower temperatures than many other types of bulbs. Lower heat production decreases the risk of fire.

Consumers considering setting up their homes with LED lighting should consider a few factors before investing in anything. They should decide on the level of illumination they desire and whether they need "warm" or "cool" light. Cool white lighting is perfect for task lighting, while warm lighting is ideal for accent lighting or lighting for small areas. LEDs are available in sizes that fit standard light bulb sockets. Some LEDs feature dimmer options.
