Decoupage Comic Book Ideas
- When beginning a decoupage project with comic books, it is essential to have all materials ready before beginning. First, choose the comic(s) and the decoupage surface. The size of the images from the comics may dictate the surface that you choose, or it may be the other way around, where the work area determines the comic images chosen. Other essential supplies include scissors, glue (white glue diluted with a little water works well), a Popsicle stick or a similar instrument for smoothing, a paint brush and a rag for cleanup.
- Wooden letters are available for purchase at craft stores and may be used for displaying a name, word or phrase on a wall or shelf. Use small comic images as they will need to be wrapped around the letters to create a smooth final product. Aside from names, letters could be used to spell out a phrase from your favorite comic using images from that particular comic.
- A variety of switch plates may be used, but wooden ones make gluing easier.Thinkstock Images/Comstock/Getty Images
Switch plates are available at any hardware store in a variety of materials; purchase a wooden one for ease of use in the decoupage project. Using a single image prominently displays the art or character, while using multiple images can create a colorful piece of art for the room in which the switch plate will be used. - An ordinary table can be transformed into a colorful piece of art, work area or even a desk for a child's room by simply decoupaging comic book art onto the table directly. Strategically place the art on the table surface before gluing, as you may want to try displaying characters in large format in the center of the table surface and then surrounding the center with smaller images. The ideas are limitless with this size of project!
