How to Clean Construction Dust in Houses
- 1). Spray the dust on the floor with water from a bottle or with a hose capable of spraying a gentle mist. Do this only if the floor can handle a small amount of moisture. Moistening the dust will help maximize the amount vacuumed and limit the dust that is kicked up into the air.
- 2). Vacuum or sweep the dust. If vacuuming, check the bag, filter or canister frequently. It may require replacement or emptying often.
- 3). Use attachments to the vacuum or shop vacuum to clean any dust-coated furniture and to maximize the dust collected from corners and hard-to-reach places.
- 4). Dampen a soft towel. Run the towel along walls and other surfaces that are covered in dust. If the towel becomes so dirty that it is no longer effective, wash the towel or switch to a new towel.
- 5). Check the vents. Remove the vent covers, wipe them down and, if necessary, vacuum inside the vent.
- 6). Check and replace the home's air filter or furnace filter if necessary.
