- 1). Obtain birth certificates for births less than a year prior from the Facility Health Services Complex at Rosecrans. The birth must have occurred in San Diego County. You can only obtain a certified copy of a birth certificate from this office in person. You can also apply in person for full-body birth certificates, which include confidential information.
- 2). Obtain birth certificates in person for any birth in San Diego County, from one of the six County Clerk offices. This includes the San Diego Assessor Main Office, San Diego Recorder/Clerk Main Office, El Cajon Branch Office, San Marco's Branch Office, Chula Vista Branch Office and the Kearny Mesa Branch Office.
- 3). Obtain birth certificates through mail by completing the "Application for Birth Record by Mail" form from the County Clerk website. Send the completed two-page form along with the fee to the San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/Clerk. Expect your certificate within two to three weeks.
