The Factory Options Offered on a 1997 BMW Z3
- BMW introduced the Z3 roadster during the 1996 model year. In the 1997 model year, BMW offered the car with a more powerful engine than the previous model year, plus numerous features both on the inside and outside of the car. Perhaps most appealing to some drivers, the Z3 offers open-air driving with the convertible top down.
- The Z3 holds two passengers bucket seats, wrapped in either vinyl or the upgraded option of leather. BMW offers the option of heated seats for cold weather driving in the Z3. The Z3 comes with a five-speed manual transmission as a standard feature, with a four-speed automatic transmission as an option. The driver gets to grasp a leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel. Both the driver and passenger seats come with power adjustment. The Z3 comes standard with an AM/FM/cassette sound system or an optional CD player as well as an optional trip computer.
- The two-seat Z3 roadster goes down the road on 16-inch alloy wheels, or on optional 17-inch wheels. The driver and passenger do not have to reach out of the car to adjust the side-view mirrors, since both adjust via power buttons inside the car. The side mirrors can be equipped with an optional heating feature to help melt away frost in colder climates. Metallic and special factory paint come as options as well.
- A key part of the Z3's accident avoidance system is comprised of the brake system, which comes with power ABS brakes on all four wheels. The Z3 comes with optional traction control, helping the car maintain control during heavy maneuvering. The car also comes with fog lights to help the driver see better in low-visibility scenarios. In the unfortunate event of an accident, the Z3 comes with front airbags on both the driver and passenger sides.
