How to Stage a Closet
- 1). Remove anything you do not use on a regular basis. Pack these items into storage boxes and place them in the garage, attic or basement. If these storage options are not available, rent a storage building and move the boxes off site.
- 2). Clean the floors, walls and light fixtures in the closet. Consider replacing the light bulb with a brighter, energy-efficient bulb.
- 3). Leave the closets two-thirds of the way full. A closet that is two-thirds full leaves potential buyers feeling like their items will fit in the space available.
- 4). Place items that do not belong in the designated closet in another part of your home. Sporting equipment and extra toys should all find new homes in storage or appropriate containers.
- 5). Insure the closet doors hang correctly and are not dirty. Wipe the doors and door handles down before showing the house.
- 6). Consider adding decorative, yet useful, elements to the closet. Pretty baskets can hold small items out of sight and provide a touch of color to your closets.
