    Blender

    • A blender is a device with a container (usually plastic or glass) that rests above a series of blades. Food is inserted into the container and a lid is securely fastened to the top. Once turned on, the blades spin around and either mix the foods together or liquefy them, depending on how long the device is left on. Blenders are typically used for preparing and mixing different types of drinks.

    Stand Mixer

    • A stand mixer is a large device used to combine two or more ingredients during the baking process. Stand mixers feature a large bowl, typically made of metal, and a component that spins around called a beater. The ingredients you want to mix are placed into the bowl. The beater is lowered into the bowl and when the stand mixer turns on, the beater spins around and mixes the ingredients together.

    Hand Mixer

    • A hand mixer is a small, portable version of a stand mixer. Instead of having the bowl attached to the mixer, you put your ingredients into a separate bowl in your kitchen. The handle you hold has one or two beaters attached to it, and when the device is turned on you can lower the beaters into the bowl by hand and use them to mix the ingredients to your liking. The beaters are typically removable for cleaning.

    Whisk

    • A whisk is a small hand held device that resembles the beater on a mixer. It is used to accomplished roughly the same task as a mixer in that you are blending two or more ingredients together in a bowl. However, instead of having a motor and turning around for you, you must hold the whisk and physically move your arm about to complete the mixing process.
