- Plastic storage containers come in all sizes and shapes to suit your needs. They're durable and can be stacked on top of one another to save floor space. The more room the ornaments have to shift around, the more likely they are to break. So a small collection requires only a small container. If you need more room, larger containers can hold up to 84 ornaments in separate compartments, keeping them safe.
- If your ornaments seem to get crushed or bent up every year no matter how careful you wrap and store them, try a hanging ornament storage case. This is a unique design because the case has three hangers with ridges cut in them. This design allows you to hang your ornaments in a row on the hanger and place them in a protective plastic case. Your ornaments will hang somewhere isolated in your house while being protected from outside dangers.
- If you have a large storage container, a few modifications can turn it into a customized ornament storage container. To do this, you'll need cardboard and foam cups. Cut the cardboard to fit the shape of the inside of the box. Line foam cups in a row and glue them down to the cardboard using a hot glue; this gives each ornament a separate space to stay in. Once you've filled the cups, place them in the storage container and repeat these steps to create another layer of storage.

Check with your local liquor or wine store to see if they have empty wine or liquor boxes they want to get rid of. These boxes usually have dividers in them to keep wine or liquor bottles separate and prevent breaking. They can serve the same purpose for your valuable ornaments. You can also use egg cartons for your smaller items, or wrap them in used wrapping paper or tissue paper from all the gifts you've received.
