- 1). Power off your Pavilion A706N and unplug all cables from the rear of the computer tower.
- 2). Remove all screws from the back of the computer tower.
- 3). Slide the removable panel off the rear of the unit. If you are facing the back of the tower, it is the panel on the right side of the tower. Once you've removed the panel, the internal components of the tower, including the SATA drive, will be exposed.
- 4). Locate the rectangular SATA drive in the tower. It will be supported by a metal frame.
- 5). Remove the screws on the frame, then lift the SATA drive out of the housing.
- 6). Unplug the SATA ribbon cable from the back of the drive and set the drive aside.
- 7). Plug the cable into the port at the back of the new SATA drive and place the drive in the metal frame.
- 8). Replace the screws on the metal frame.
- 9). Replace the side panel of the tower as well as the screws on the rear of the tower.
