The island country of Sri Lanka lies in the Indian Ocean. With its white, palm-fringed beaches, it is a popular tourist destination for visitors from around the world. The country's hotel industry is aimed mainly at vacationers, although hotels with business facilities also are available, especially in the capital city of Colombo. Many hotels are set in coastal towns and villages in the southern half of the island, where there was the least impact from the 30-year civil war that ended in 2009. - This five-star hotel is set in gardens by the beach overlooking the Laccadive Sea in the town of Negombo, on the west coast of Sri Lanka. The 12 rooms, or pavilions as the hotel calls them, are set in timber-built cottages with their own spa treatment rooms, and constructed in traditional Sri Lankan style. The hotel specializes in Ayurvedic therapies, which include body massages with essential oils and traditional herb detox treatments. All pavilions have televisions, air conditioning, ceiling fans and mini-refrigerators. The hotel swimming pool is set among the pavilions and surrounded by landscaped gardens. The on-site Herbs & Spice Restaurant serves Ayurveda cuisine, said to have healthy properties, and freshly made tropical fruit drinks. Guests can also take meals in their rooms or at poolside.
