Safe Keeping

103 15
Have you ever had the misfortune of experiencing a break-in at your home? Have you ever arrived back home to find that your valuables are missing and that your home has been ransacked? Clearly this is a devastating event to experience..
..
one that shakes us up and makes us feel violated.
Every home should have a safe in which to keep personal items.
Safes are available in many different sizes.
At least with a safe hidden away, your personal documents and other valuables would be out of reach for thieves.
There are several items that should be stored in a safe: Personal documents such as:
  • Birth or Death Certificates
  • Passports
  • Wills
  • Marriage or Divorce documents
With identity theft such a growing problem, a safe is a must for keeping these types of documents secure.
Money and Coins It may be that you occasionally or often have large amounts of cash to store at home, for one reason or another.
If that is the case, a safe is also a must to keep your cash secure.
Cash is untraceable so it is an easy target for thieves.
You may also have a collection of valuable coins.
These need to be stored away out of sight.
Jewelry With the price of gold at an all-time high, jewelry is a much sought-after commodity.
This is an easy grab for a thief, who will turn around and pawn it for cash.
Any precious or expensive jewelry should be kept in a safe.
Particularly, any heirloom pieces or antique pieces need to be kept hidden in a safe.
Guns If you own any firearms, investing in a gun safe is a must.
This will prevent the guns from getting into the wrong hands and causing injury or even death.
Thieves would also be on the lookout for any firearms, which they could easily pawn.
Keys Another great idea is to store your extra keys, or keys to such items as safety deposit boxes, in a safe.
Again this will prevent them from getting into the wrong hands.
It becomes clear, once considering all the valuables located in your home, that a safe is a very wise investment in your security and peace of mind.
Even if you experience a break-in, you can be assured that these small valuables will be secure.
As well, by installing a motion sensor and dialing unit, you will be notified once someone has entered your home, allowing you to take the necessary action to prevent or lessen the damage done by an intruder.
