Definition:

Hay fever is a type of allergy. Also known as seasonal allergies, hay fever causes such symptoms as runny nose, itching, coughing, postnasal drip and circles under the eyes.

Hay fever is caused by pollen from weeds and grasses. Symptoms may be treated with medication or with allergy shots. Talk to your healthcare provider if you think you might have hay fever. He or she will determine the best course of action for you.
